Sept 16: Finding truth in an infodemic

From false rumors and online hoaxes, to claims of half-truths or downright lies, we’re left wondering what to believe and who we can trust. To help Washingtonians better sort fact from fiction, AARP, the Center for an Informed Public at the University of Washington and BECU are offering a series of free online events. Join us as our speakers offer tips on how to spot misinformation and scams, where to go for the facts behind the claims, and what you can do to better navigate today’s information overload. All events are free, but pre-registration is required.

More topics covered in October - "Inside the Mind of a Con-Artist" on October 3 and "The Future of Lying" on October 14.

Hot Tip: How to Deal with Poor Air Quality Outdoors

  • Close windows and doors when it’s smoky outside, and open windows to let in fresh air during times when there’s better air quality outside.
  • Set air conditioners to re-circulate.
  • Avoid burning candles/incense, smoking, broiling/frying foods, and vacuuming, as these can add to indoor pollution.
  • Use a portable air cleaner with a HEPA filter - Air Cleaner Information for Consumers - California Air Resources Board.
