Join the NNN movie club where a movie will be chosen, and you have a month to watch it before we meet online. We join by Zoom to discuss what we did or didn’t like about the movie. Were the characters believable? Was the storyline easy to follow? What was the best/worst part of the movie? Did it make you laugh, cry, fall asleep?
This month we will be watching Blazing Saddles, with Gene Wilder, Cleavon Little, Madeline Kahn, and Harvey Korman. If you are looking for a classy, intellectual movie, this isn’t it. Blazing Saddles is a Mel Brooks classic, a satirical spoof on westerns with corny jokes and plenty of silliness. The story revolves around Black Bart, a black man who inadvertently becomes sheriff of an all white town and along with his drunken deputy, the Waco Kid, wins them over. Only Brooks could segue from a western to men in top hats and tails, to Hollywood’s Graumanns Chinese Theater without blinking an eye.
It is currently available on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Spectrum, and Fandango. Some services may charge a small rental fee. You can also check with your library for the DVD or if it is streaming on Hoopla or Kanopy through their services.
This group is open to everyone who enjoys watching and talking about movies! We'll pick all genres based on the suggestions of our group.
