Northwest Neighbors Network Advisory Council

NNN’s Advisory Council (AC) is composed of volunteers from the community who have a passion for helping seniors and can provide expertise to the Board of Directors. The AC was established to enable skilled volunteers who aren’t able to commit to joining the Board of Directors as well as to capture the insights of past NNN Directors. NNN will benefit from the help of members of an Advisory Council comprised of volunteers who augment the skills represented by the Board of Directors.

darci Beacom (former Social Committee Chair)

Background: darci retired as a VP of Claims for an insurance company in Chicago. She and her husband, Don, moved to Lake Forest Park in 2013 to be near family in Shoreline. She provides research and recommendations about insurance and risk management for NNN and is the liaison with NNN’s insurance broker.

Work with NNN: Provides research and recommendations about insurance and risk management for NNN and is the liaison with NNN’s insurance broker. Lead coordinator for Vendor/Service Provider database and contact for member requests for outsourced services. Current member of Social Committee. Served on NNN Board from 2019-2023, former Social Committee Chair and past member of NNN Outreach Committee.

Don Beacom (former Board Treasurer)

Background: Don is a retired Assistant Director for Continuum College at University of Washington and spent most of his career in education and technology. Don has an MBA from the University of Chicago and completed the UW certificate program in Nonprofit Management in 2021.

Work with NNN: Served as Board Treasurer from 2019 through 2022. Worked with volunteer, David Rood, to establish NNN financials in QuickBooks Online. Social member of NNN.

Robin Fenn

Background: Dr. Fenn has over 22 years of experience in program evaluation, research and strategic planning with the majority of that work being in the health and human services field.

Work with NNN: Fenn has served on the advisory council for NNN since September 2021.

Robin Flemming

As a public health nurse I greatly value NNN’s mission and vision to assist seniors to age in place as long as possible in the comfort of their own homes. This improves health through facilitating independence, social connections, and activities that promote sound mental, physical, and intellectual health.

Melinda Grout

Background: Melinda recently retired from serving the Snohomish County community for 35 years as an estate planning and elder law attorney. She has spent most of her adult life doing volunteer community work - most recently on the boards of the Monroe Community Senior Center and the Snohomish County Community Foundation, including a term serving as board president. She hasn’t missed a Mariners’ Opening Day in 20 years.

Work with NNN: Melinda joined the NNN Board in October 2022, loves the mission of NNN, and is delighted to become a part of the NNN family in 2022 and beyond. She plans to share her insight into community development/fundraising opportunities. In 2024, Melinda serves in an advisory capacity.

Melanie Meyer

Melanie appreciates the mission of helping seniors age well in their homes as she has two parents in their mid-80s who struggle with this.

Advisory Council: Sandy Moy

Background: Sandy started her career at the University of Illinois as a systems software engineer in the 1960s. In 1989 she became the Director of University Computing Services at the University of Washington, bringing her and her husband to Lake Forest Park (and the mountains).

Work with NNN: A founding member. Board President from 2019-2021; handles tech for NNN; works with the Director and Board focusing on the needs of members and volunteers from initial inquiry to fully participating in NNN; Chairperson for the Member and Volunteer Committee. Moved to advisory council member in 2024 after serving six years on NNN Board.

David Rood

David has abundant experience in finance with a particular focus on not-for-profits. He has provided invaluable guidance to our current and past Treasurers since 2019.
